Dr. Kimberly Kisler Pisca (Dr. KP)

Associate Professor, Department of Public Health – Cal State LA

Dr. Kimberly Kisler Pisca, also known as Dr. KP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health at Cal State LA. She teaches courses introducing students to community and public health and coordinates the required internship experience for both undergraduate and Master of Public Health students.

Dr. KP’s research has centered on HIV prevention and treatment interventions, specifically among sexual and gender minority populations, as well as the training and practice of health education.

Dr. KP is the founder and director of Student Leaders in Sex Education (SLISE), a year-long service-learning opportunity whereby seniors in Public Health design a comprehensive and inclusive multi-session curriculum on sexual and reproductive health and deliver it to ninth grade students on partnering high school campuses.

Flora Diaz is a Senior Project Engineer at Parsons with over eleven years of experience in transportation engineering, specializing in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects for municipalities and public agencies. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Flora has grown her career through both technical and leadership roles on major infrastructure projects and is passionate about mentorship, professional development, and creating inclusive workplaces. She actively mentors staff and is committed to helping others define and pursue meaningful career paths in the industry.

Ivy Kwok

Lecturer, UCLA – Undergraduate Education Initiatives

Ivy Kwok is a Lecturer at UCLA within the Undergraduate Education Initiatives department. With a background in Environmental Engineering, she is dedicated to supporting student success and expanding access to STEM education.

Through her work in undergraduate education, Ivy focuses on empowering students academically and professionally while encouraging diverse representation within engineering and environmental fields.

Diane Gilbert Jones

Environmental Affairs Leader | Civil & Environmental Engineer | STEM Educator

Diane Gilbert Jones has built a distinguished 30+ year career in environmental engineering and public service with the City of Los Angeles. She served with LA Sanitation from 1987–2017 as a strategic leader advancing environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance across wastewater and solid waste systems. From 2017–2023, she served as Environmental Affairs Officer at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), overseeing water quality compliance and guiding critical regulatory initiatives aligned with state and federal standards.

In addition to her leadership roles in public service, Diane has been a dedicated STEM mentor and educator. Since 2021, she has served as a STEM Math Instructor with the California State University Long Beach Upward Bound program, mentoring high school and college students and supporting future engineers and STEM professionals.

  • First African American woman engineer at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant
  • Led Hyperion’s first-ever secondary treatment shutdown
  • Construction Liaison Engineer for the City’s first billion-dollar Digester Construction Project
  • Led conversion of Hyperion digesters to the nation’s largest Class A biosolids system
  • Permitted the Terminal Island Deep Well Injection Project (national first)
  • Testified before the California Legislature on environmental issues affecting Los Angeles

Diane holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering, along with certifications in environmental law, project management, systems auditing, and leadership development. She has received numerous honors, including the California Water Environment Association Emerging Water Leader Award, the LADWP Society of Women Engineers Kindling Award, and recognition as one of the City of Los Angeles’ Distinguished Public Works Employees.
